Portable 45″ tall guardrail  •  Rapid installation

Information
  • 45″ StrapRail® Posts
  • OSHA compliant guardrail with top rail, midrail & toeboard
  • Use with Striped Guardrail Scafnet® to prevent debris from falling or blowing through
  • Each Strap Kit contains all the components needed for 1 rail member
  • Each orange strap is 4″ wide & tensioned using its own ratchet
  • The maximum possible tension applied is 2,500 lb per strap
  • A structural engineer must verify the adequacy of the supporting structure prior to each installation

Superchute® can provide free and helpful sketches within 24 hours.

A StrapRail Site Sketch :

  • Shows a clear layout of the guardrail on the jobsite
  • Shows the precise quantity of StrapRail® needed for the job
  • Recommends the appropriate components
  • Contact us for your custom site sketch

StrapRail® complies with:

  • US Federal OSHA Standard 1926.502 “Fall Protection” – click here for more information
  • Cal/OSHA (horizontal load of 20 pounds per lineal foot at the top rail)
  • Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, REGULATION 213/91 FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Section 26.3(5) (point load of 150 pounds applied to every 8 feet of guardrail at the top rail equivalent to 19 lb per linear foot)
  • Quebec’s CNESST Safety Code for the Construction Industry, chapter S-2.1, r.4, 3.8.2, et 3.8.3

Other guardrails:

  • Temporary guardrails are usually constructed of wood, steel, or wire rope and are easily tested after installation
  • Workers & safety inspectors do not intentionally apply force against these barriers since there is always a concern the guardrail could fail
  • Wood guardrails are costly to build and the lumber is scrapped at the end of the job
  • Steel guardrails are heavy and require a lot of storage space
  • Wire rope guardrails are often slack which allows the top rail wire to deflect below the OSHA minimum height of 39″

StrapRail®

  • An installed StrapRail® System is under constant self-test with considerable and continuous tension applied to the straps & anchors
  • The fully tensioned state proves the anchors have been correctly installed & that the railing is safe for use
  • No other temporary guardrail system offers this self test benefit
  • Workers can be confident that a fall will be arrested by a properly installed guardrail, given the incredible strength of the webbing straps (20,000 lb MBS each).
  • StrapRail® is fully engineered, lightweight & reusable for many years
  • It is compact and easily transportable or shipped
  • We can quote & manufacture customized systems for your needs

The following technical drawings show identical anchor posts at each end of the system.  Note that systems can be be configured with a different anchor post at each end.

These drawings show 100 ft runs for clarity.  Note that the maximum allowable span between anchor posts is 150 ft.

Note: The maximum allowable span between any 2 fixed posts is 50 ft.

Basic Column Post (Strap on)

  • For attachment to an existing structural column
  • Plastic profile mounted to an aluminum track
  • 2 red captive ratchet straps

Toeboard Hook

  • The optional plastic claw prevents the orange strap from dropping out of the column post (better than zip ties)
  • For instances where the post is installed several inches above the corrugated steel deck prior to the concrete pour
  • Can be easily retrofitted to existing column posts as your stock posts already have the bolt hole

Outboard Column Post (Strap on)

  • For attachment to the outboard face of the structural column
  • Designed to keep the orange rail straps tight against the column, near the slab edge
  • Allows workers to benefit from maximum access to the working surface
  • Perfect for slab troweling projects where close access to slab edge is highly desirable
  • Maximum retention of the orange rail straps against the column is ensured by means of 4 red captive cinch straps
  • Can also be installed Inboard

Midway Post (Bolt Down)

  • For instances where other types of belted guide posts cannot be used (example: lack of existing columns)
  • Install Midway Posts between 2 Anchor Posts to prevent outward and downward deflection of the guardrail system
  • Any StrapRail® system requires a fixed guide post every 50 feet or less
  • Made from Galvanized Steel, Aluminum and Plastic
  • Requires 4 anchor bolts

Clamp Posts

StrapRail® requires a post every 10’. Use these lightweight clamping posts to meet this requirement.
These posts will stiffen the guardrail and prevent deflection of the straps below the OSHA mandated height of 39”.

Anti-Deflection Post

  • For inboard installations
  • Robust aluminum angle construction
  • Must be clamped to the 3 straps every 10 feet

45" Anti-Deflection Post Guide (Free Standing)

  • Must be clamped to the 3 straps every 10 feet

Spacing Strap for Posts

  • Use to ensure the distance between any type of StrapRail post does not exceed 10 ft.
  • In any given run, post spacing that ends up being less than 10 ft is acceptable
  • Post-to-post spacing that exceeds 10 ft is unacceptable and presents a safety hazard

StrapRail® Guy Rope Kit

Optional overhead restraint for preventing outboard deflection in guardrail spans that lack fixed Guide Posts. Guy Rope shackle connects to the upper tip of the Anti-Deflection Post. Install every 30′ or less in lieu of fixed Guide Posts.
